Other than my receding hairline I possess very few physical reminders of my father. Today I noticed a large tear and missing buttons from his olde peat coat and panicked. I
Back to Dust
At the end of my days I hope I won’t become that guy that says “I told you so.”
Instead I want to have grown up to be the man who was known for kindness, his long stories, his laughter and an open mind. I want to go knowing that I shared all the wine with my friends during the good times and bad. That I helped realize bright and realized children who will make their mark. I’d like to leave knowing that I brought many more smiles to my wife’s face then tears down her cheeks.
Then I would like to go back to the dust from which I came.
In our Own Image
There was a time Before Children came when we had the home to ourselves so we decided to color it in our palate.
On the second day of owning it my bride said paint one bathroom room green and so it happened. She said it was good.
On the fourth day of us owning it she said paint the second bathroom Purple and so it happen. She said it was also good.
We then set forth to buy towels to match the scheme and once it was done we both said it was good.
The children came and we are lucky if there are even towels on the hangers for us to use. Seems like they are now rearranging in their own way and we are lucky if we can keep up.

A walk a near mile in the Cold
And so I told them this morning…From near a top North Eastman Avenue to Belvedere Junior High down below is a mile long walk that I made each and every day no matter how cold the morning or how East LA hot the afternoon. I never ever once complained and I never made my parents late.
PS: The Administrative Team here at Casa Torres also serving as council to the mentioned patriarch cannot confirm the voracity of the claims the aforementioned is making. Mr. Torres has been hereby warned about his over seasoning of facts as it pertains to lecturing his offspring on cold mornings. We (the Administrative Team) apologize to any and all who may have been miffed by Mr. Torres
The Victoria Affair
I was sitting at my home computer sipping on a cold Coca Cola when the phone rang. I recognized the number, picked it up and forgot that the sliding glass door was open and my conversation was in the public domain.
