Podcast: Revisionist History – Is your own life story true?

The Fall Season is upon Hugo and with the onset of Thanksgiving soon approaching he thinks on what he thought of the holiday then and what he thinks of it now. Thanks to a quick exchange with his son, Hugo thinks about the new histories kids are learning and how they contrast with his idyllic knowledge when he first came of the United State from Mexico.

Goldilocks Hugo

Last week temperatures topped over 100 degrees in our great valley with no sign of reprieve. I’d stand three minutes in the sun and already the oppressive weight of sunlight forced my body to seek the relieving shade. Better yet… air conditioning. I shook my fists at Ra and asked for mercy.
This morning, as if my please went heard, the temps were cool as if Autumn had finally arrived in the South land. Still, there were just a bit too cold for my Latin genes. I shuddered and sighed for slightly warmer starts to the day.
My wife was not kind to my carping and as she drove off to work she shook her head in resolved disappointment.

Podcast: Everybody Hurts – In a bad place but there is hope.

Earlier this week Hugo Tweeted; “I am tired, unmotivated, lonely and overall sad this morning. I have struggled to get out of bed and my body is resisting my pleads to move. I am not in a good place.” Lots of good people sent positive and uplifting messages that began the healing process. Hugo talks about how he got to be in the bad place and how he found his way out.

Conversations: Anne Rae – Luxury Sex Towels & More

In 2016, Anna B. was thoroughly exasperated. Tired of sleeping in the wet spot after sex and conversations bemoaning the lack of sex clean-up products on the market, she determined to change the market and way people view aftercare.  Fortified with lattes and the belief that aftercare shouldn’t be an afterthought, Anna launched her business, AnnaRae, in the spring of 2017. Today, Anna and her team proudly offer beautiful, handmade sex clean-up towels in a range of sizes and colors. A proud LGBTQIAP+ positive, woman-owned business, with products made in Texas, AnnaRae has a passion to provide quality aftercare merchandise.
Hugo and Anna Rae discuss entrepreneurship, family life, sexuality and luxury sex towels on today’s eye opening show.

Podcast: Coveting Grapes – We want what others have but it doesn’t make us happy. What might?

From the moment we are born we begin to model the behaviors of others and shape our desires based on what others have. Podcast: Listen Closely – Everyone is talking but are we listening to one another?

While cleaning out his garage Hugo found an old poem his High School teacher assigned in the last days of Senior year. It made little sense to him then but twenty years later he’s lived a life and the puzzle pieces are starting to make sense. Hugo reads the poem and shares his thoughts on the importance of listening to the wisdom of elders and why we need to truly listen to each other more.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
