Humoring the Humorist

Standing and facing west from the corner of Myrtle Avenue & Lime I spotted three lanky, sweaty and tousled-haired teenagers. With skateboards at their side they were walking towards the prominent statue of Samuel Clemens at the south-east corner of Library Park. As they came closer to it their strides grew long and they started mimicking monkeys who then danced around the mustachioed bronze artwork. Unaware of my audience they made goofy noises and taunted Mr Clemens with silly questions and remarks. 
“You’re not so smart sitting here in the sun huh Mr. Einstein.” “Why don’t you 3.14 yourself an umbrella Mr. Smarty Pants” they shouted. 
When they noticed my approach they stopped and I took a moment to point out that they had their figures wrong. “That’s Mark Twain fellas” I told them with a smile and they stood there with a polite but quizzical look on their face. Then I pointed to the Library in the background and told them that they could learn more about him in there. 
They laughed and one, the shortest of the three retorted. “We Might.”

Suck in Your Tummy

Took a break from the shooting jets of a Waterpark to read my magazine and enjoy some shade. My kids and wife were off on their own wondering and I was happy for the moment of relative solitude. 
Then a group of three stepped in front of me and within earshot. The adult woman was about 30 in my estimate and she was accompanied by two girls. The oldest of the pair could not be older than 10. The mom/aunt/family friend was requesting they pose for a phone and the girls acquiesced in that way kids do when they know

In our Own Image

There was a time Before Children came when we had the home to ourselves so we decided to color it in our palate. 
On the second day of owning it my bride said paint one bathroom room green and so it happened. She said it was good. 
On the fourth day of us owning it she said paint the second bathroom Purple and so it happen. She said it was also good. 
We then set forth to buy towels to match the scheme and once it was done we both said it was good. 
The children came and we are lucky if there are even towels on the hangers for us to use. Seems like they are now rearranging in their own way and we are lucky if we can keep up.

Dadatatouille

I make breakfast, dinners, brunches, pack snacks, do midnight burger runs, stuff sack lunches for first days of school, pick up a pizza on the way back home after a late Open House, grill steaks on the 3rd, 4th & 8th of July, bake chocolate chips cookies cause she craves them, pop popcorn before popping in a movie & fix the occasional cocktail for good measure.
